I'd like to replace the 5mm spacer under the stem with a Wahoo mount to point back towards the rider so the Wahoo is behind the stem, over the top tube and out of harm's way.

Anyone know of such a thing, or a reason why it might not work?

Something like this but with a Wahoo insert?

Very much like that, but longer. That one doesn't allow enough space to fit the Wahoo behind the stem. I want to try and keep it out of harm's way in a crash.

It won’t be out of harms way there as the bars spin it’ll be right in into the path

You want to fit it in the l between the stem and bars for any kind of protection

Good point. Do we know of any that allow that?

Pretty sure the bar mount can go round 90 degrees for stem purposes.

76 Projects top tube mount.

Click this link

I have one and it is ace. Sticks on with 3m sticky adhesive back. Mine has been on for well over a year rain, shine and multiple washes and it’s not going anywhere.

Keeps the Wahoo well protected.

It's for the wife's bike. Stem is 45mm Turbine, too short for the bar mount.

That project 76 looks promising.

Thanks, I'd spotted both of those, but above the stem like that feels a bit vulnerable in the event of a tumble.

Most of the mounts will break away in a crash (don't ask me how I know)

I have that one that soundninjauk links to above.
It goes as the top spacer and pointed forward my elemntbolt sits on top of the stem.

If you have one pointing back, chances are in a crash it might get banged down with the bars turning and it could damage the top tube.

How much are you planning to crash?
It's better if it ejects really.

Another vote for the 76 Designs one here. Had mine a year or so and its had plenty of crashes, washes etc and going strong.

I have one that replaced the top cap on the headset with a mount on top of it from one of the places on Amazon. The mount fits directly over the bearing pre-load bolt in the cap.

One of these. £13 delivered.

Wouldn’t having a mount pointing back from the stem towards the rider be a hazard for the rider? I’d be more worried about that than the chance of damaging the computer in a crash.

I've got the K-edge stem mount in my bikes with a wahoo insert (previously used with a Garmin). Works really well and never had a problem in the 5 years I've been using the mount.
