I'm thinking, as you do on a slow Monday, of swapping some Middleburn cranks over to a road bike, and need a 110mm BCD spider so I can run road compact gearing (eg. 34/48).

Middleburn do a 110 spider, but it's for a triple AFAIK, so my 34 and 48 rings will be too far out (for my liking).

Does any other manufacturer make a compatible spider?

Use a shorter BB? I have a set of RS7s on a 107mm (or is it 108?) Shimano BB, chainline is pretty narrow. Not sure what exactly, but I can measure tomorrow if you want.

AFAIK, no other spiders with fit, but the White Industries one looks similar at a glance.

According to the Middleburn website road cranks are "Coming Soon"

Have been on the way for months, if you can find out when exactly and post back here I'd be grateful. Didnt get back to my email.

I'm currently running them (as a Duo) on a 107mm so they won't go any narrower than that.

Overall, I've not been that impressed with the duo. The Q factor is too high IMO (hence the short-as-possible BB), and the shifting is poor.

That's partly why I want to run it with 110 BCD rings - so I can get some non-Middleburn rings on it!

On the subject of middleburns I have a set of RS7' with square taper bb and a five arm spider, what bcd spacing are they(going to go ss and want a steel ring)?

Cheers Rob.

Use an Uno Rob? £45 is more but you can flog your spider to fund it. Just love mine.

If you are changing the spider, just remember to budget for a XTR BB removal tool as well... as that's what you need to take the lock ring off... oh, and a bl**dy great spanner, as well a nut and bolt to hold the whole lot together. It was a pain to get apart as you can probably tell!

robidoo

see http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_bo-z.html#bcd

it'll either be 'ATB' which is 110mm BCD

or 'compact' which is 94mm BCD

Flog the Middleburns and just buy a Campag/Shimano compact.
