Hi all

Back in the day a retrofit disc brake adaptor existed that mounted to the hub axle and used a torque arm bolted to the cantilever boss to stabilise it.  I think Hope made it?

Can anyone remember this and who made it.  Google is drawing a blank.  I wanted to look at how it was made to crib some ideas

Cheers

Tim

Hope’s included the calliper, rather than being a mount. C2 No1 or No2 I think (the other being the front). The hubs you used them with had a thinner stubby axle end. I had the front one, with a v-brake on the rear.

Yes. I have one in my spare parts box. They are rare so I'm holding onto it as an inheritance for my grandchildren. They don't mount to the axle though, they bolt onto the dropout so they need a flat dropout. I tried fitting mine to a Cannondale but the end of the seatstay extended down to where the Sharkfin needs to mount. They were designed to fit a specific design of dropout, not as a universal thing.

Ooh!
I had the A2Z one on my singlespeed Inbred (in fridge white, obviously).
Before that I had a DDG/ Onza torque arm one, purchased from Supercycles in Nov 2006.

There's a crude photo of one here:

This looks similar:

You can still buy the A2Z ones!

(I still ride a singlespeed Inbred but it's red and has disc mounts).
