Looking for opinions on my cunning idea:
Mrs Johnny, who has fairly short legs, is in need of a bike frame with a nice low standover height. She's currently riding a frame with a 21.5in top tube and a 15in seattube, but the standover is let us say, snug.
I am currently eyeing up a short dialled holeshot frame for her; the geometry seems ok, it's not too heavy and with a 100mm fork, not too slack or too steep. (I think...?)
She much prefers traily stuff to XC so it might well be top fun for her to ride. She wouldn't do much xc stuff on it. I'm thinking i could braze a front cable stop onto the frame, run it 2x9 gearing, with her light XC wheels, short stem, etc making a gnarly little lady bike.
However, I could then swap seatposts and wheels to have a little jump bike for my good self. (just to make sure the frame is strong enough for her, of course...) ๐
Any opinions/unseen snags?
Sounds like a plan to me, although I wouldn't mess about with 2x9 ... I'd run 1x9 with a 12-36 deore cassette on the back if I thought a very low gear would be required.
