I hope the riders higher up the order can make a bit more sense of the conditions, this isn't good watching at the moment...

No-one is going to get a remotely clean run by the looks of it. It'll be a race of survival!

Does that mean a re-run for catching riders?

Hands up who has seen a rider catching up the rider in front,(while both are on the pace haha) in DH before lol.

Can't see this going to completion actually, imagine what it'll be like when the Men hit it later.
Mud bath.

This is pretty uncomfortable watching actually . Hopefully the top riders can make more sense of it .

I'm feeling a lot better about my Red Bull Foxhunt swamp performance a couple of years back now. Wish they'd set the riders off at bigger intervals though, groups of riders clustered together is no fun to watch.

To be honest the start of the world champs always looks a bit like this. Countries get to enter riders you've never heard of that could never qualify for a world cup under normal conditions.

Obviously the mud is making it much worse than normal.

Think if the current world champion is tripoding and struggling to keep the bike moving in the steepest sections of the track because the mud is up past her hubs then you can say that the track designers got it badly wrong..

Nah mate, it’s October…

That's exactly my point.. they knew exactly when this race was going to be taking place and don't seem to have taken the expected conditions into account. For all the complaints about bike park courses that would have been the way to go for a race in the Alps in October.!

If it had been dry and 2 months ago this course would have been absolutely epic. Sadly having to run it so close to ski season has ruined it for the women.

It's the reality of racing DH during the winter months (something we're a little rare in doing here in the UK).

Sometimes it's a slog, more a battle of attrition than shaving tenths of a second on fast buff trails...

TBH I'm kinda enjoying it.

The Epic Gap Jump was a sound investment. Red Bull Gnarly Bum Slide up next.

This is becoming a bit of a joke tbh. Funny to watch but it won't take much for someone to get seriously hurt and then it'll no longer be funny.

I'm not sure any of them will be going quick enough to get seriously hurt.

I reckon there should be designated diversion available for the race organisers on all sections that may become unrideable. Make it so straightforward that not practicing it wouldn't be an issue.

It isn't the race organisers fault. The riders push for more techy natural sections. By definition, they chop up really badly.

I’m hoping for an epic Danny hart run later conditions should suit him perfectly.

To be fair, we usually ride Leogang every October half term and most years it’s been sunny and dry. Freak weather this year

Camille looks absolutely stunned that she got down without crashing let alone winning! Fully deserved though as everyone else crashed at least once. You've only got to beat the people on the day

Do the whole of the men’s field get a run or do they whittle down the numbers after qualifying?
Surely must be a case for reducing the numbers given the state of the course.

Agree with sharkattack. That was fraught! Need a lie down before the men’s downhill comes on to recover.

Last world cup with conditions even remotely close to this was at Fort Bill (new woods section before the rocks were laid) and Minnaar rode it like it was almost dry, I'll be surprised if he isn't on the podium today
