Hi, I’m after any training route/day ride recommendations for gravel/rough stuff in Essex and Surrey?
We live in Barking, so have both done a lot of road cycling around Epping/Essex and I used to like Surrey years ago for the hills. Getting a train/tube out somewhere first would be fine.
A long story involving a new roof, adopting two cats and some health issues on my side has meant planning a proper holiday this year has not been possible.
So my wife decided she wanted to try bike packing with her new cycling club and got excited enough to sign up for a 3 day King Alfred’s Way trip in the summer. Which means we have somehow ended up with two steel adventure bikes on order, 2.25” tyres to be more off road and luggage hauling friendly.
The “Essex Serpent” sounded fun as an interim training goal.
