Hi,

Sorry, but I have no clue what a 2nd hand road bike would be worth.

How much do you think a 2008 Specialized Roubaix (Elite) 105, full carbon frame and fork etc? Unchanged from new (Alex rims).

Thinking of whether I should upgrade wheels, cassette etc or sell the Roubaix and buy a new bike.

Thanks,

Stu.

Half price then - 10% of the remainder each year.

New £100
1 year £50
2 years £45
3 years £40.50
etc

Probably in the region of £300-£400 depeneding on condition?

Personaly I'd uprgade it, I spent £600 on upgradeing everything on my s/h entry level Cannondale, ended up ~16lb for under a grand in total, with 10s dura ace (second hand non-wearing expensive stuff like STI's, new wheels, bars, stem, post). All for significantly less than a new 105 cannondale.

s/h DA 7800 shifters and mechs off ebay, new ultegra chain/casette, s/h ultegra SL compact chainset, forged brakes from planet-x (assuming they fit, might need long drop brakes), new cables all round, and some handbuilt wheels would leave you with a very nice bike for the next 5 years.

Fair point, but what if selling it meant that I only had to put £600 towards a brand new Planet X Pro Carbon Ultegra?

Upgraded Roubaix Vs New Planet X Pro Carbon Ultegra...debate?

Well it depends if you like the Roubaix or not.

Then the Planet X isn't full Ultegra (chainset and brakes aren't) Where as you can buy a full on Ultegra groupset for £550

That's £50 left. Sell old groupset here or on Ebay, put towards wheels = very nice bike.
