I was just looking at the maps I'd made, and all of them start and end at my house. Wouldn't that mean that anyone looking at mapmyride could look and see that the person who created the map must have a bunch of bikes there?
D'oh!
What do others do? Should I create fake start and end points?
Don't share your routes with the public? It's not compulsory you know!
Just realised that. Oops. ๐ณ
Exactly why all my from home rides are recorded'short' on Strava I get a bit outside what would be the exclusion zone then hit start usually near some very public place like a supermarket or office block.
Or start it 5 mins into a ride or a few streets away.
No privacy settings like Strava then? Put in postcodes for it to keep secret?
Dangers of mapmyride
Dangers of not using commen sense
Seriously, is anybody else really interested in your rides?
Oh, I don't know. They could be. I'm kind of a big deal, you know.
What do you do about your riding buddies though? Strava collects you all together and they're unlikely to have privacy zones centred around your house. All you can do I suppose it's to ask them not to start their GPS straight away but chances are I won't remember in the preride prep chaos.
