Anyone have an idea of how difficult this is in real terms?
Considering the furthest i've ridden on the roads is circa 45 miles then am i aiming too high & will someone find me in a whimpering heap along the A59.....?
You'll be fine!
Rochdale to Hebden, over the big hill to Keighley, then on to Skipton. Reverse to come back. It's really not that far, and if you choose a non windy day, very enjoyable.
I was thinking Edenfield/Rossendale/Burnley/Colne/Skipton, then going back via Keighley. Not sure how far it is but i suspect 60+ miles that way.
Lots of nice cake shops in Skipton though... 😆
Burnley/Nelson/Colne is ok, longer, but less hilly. Coming back, there's a long climb out of Keighley, then the climb over Cock hill then down into Hebden. It's a nice route, just pick a day with no wind or with a gentle tailwind home. You should have bought a proper road bike; hybrids are ok, but you'd fly on a nice carbon roadie!
😆 Probably, but i'd be uncomfortable and it would cost me a lot more than the Boardman!
You just need drops and some STIs.... Go on, you know you wanna!
Drops?
With my joint problems at the moment???? 😯 Let me ease myself into the 'dark side' slowly will ya!!! 😛
But...(and I'm not trying to convince you or evangelise in any way..) with drops you get a variety of hand positions from close in to the stem when climbing to out on the hoods for rolling along and tucked down on the dropped bit for descending or battering along...
Worth thinking about for the future...
(hee hee, I'll have his legs shaved and socks on over his carbon soled shoes before he knows it...)
Don't say that - the GF has already said she likes the idea of shaven legs! 😯
