We've sold bikes well above £1000 on cyclescheme. Enlightened employers have a consumer credit license which negates the £1000 limit.

Possible, but they need to have a credit liscence which costs the company more money.

Of course they have. The £1000 limit is mainly due to the fact that up to that amount the employer is covered by a generic credit licence, above that amount and the employer has to apply for a licence which costs about £250. Most employers think that £1000 is more than enough to buy a bike.

I did it. £1800 bike. I paid £800, £1000 went on the scheme.

I wouldn't shout about it to your employer though.

Yes.

I bought a Giant Trance X2 from Bicycle Chain in Weston-S-Mare. It retailed at £1500 and he was offering £1300 for "cash". Under cyclescheme, he offered £1350. I paid £350 "cash" and applied for a £1000 voucher, the maximum my company will do.

Legally, I took (am taking) a risk. If my company decides not to sell it back to me when the scheme ends, I've really lost the £350. But I figured that I would be losing out big-time anyway and in reality, my company does not want to collect old bikes. That was the bike I wanted so I went for it and we shall see what happens in August!

That's a good deal. I get a £3000 bike for £1000 and you pick up the other on your tab Dave... 😆

I got my Giant Trance X0 on it last year (£2350) and this year am getting a Giant Defy Advanced 2 (£1950 roadie porn) the same way. Working somewhere with a consumer credit license has its advantages 😀

Have a £1500 Cyclescheme voucher in the kitchen. Will annoy the bike shop tomorrow for my little lump of Litespeed darkside loveliness. 😀

My NHS employer set the limit at £1500 🙁

When On-one / PX did Cyclescheme, they offered the service of get a quote up to the limit you can, then when the voucher arrives, negotiate what you actually want & give them the difference. All details were on the website & nothing was underhand.
