TBH I'm surprised nobody's gone for "Intelligent Design" instead - sounds better to me

(Ed: What happened to your other t*t ?)
(Ed2: It's "it's" innit !)

I can only think of the Hope stuff - the new ProIIs and the new brakes.

I suppose you have the Spesh Evos, but I don't suppose they're really 'better' - just aimed at different riders to the normal models.

SS also have Evo versions of their hubs (wonder who had the idea first) and of course the 456 Evo...not exactly hundreds.

crikey that is a bit more than I had noticed.... Damn I even have some Evo tyres (Schwalbe). I'll have to go de-chav them with a black pen to hide the logo! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I guess it does have a legitimate reason if the item is not 'all new' but is an evolved version of the previous - like the Hope hubs that are slightly improved and the 456 that is slightly tweaked.

Its the equivalent of putting a lower-case "i" before a product name to make it double in value.

Was going to say that I'd never noticed it as a phenomenon, but got some road shoes the other day that have EVO in their name...

Evo, short for Evolution innit...

And Evolution is good, cos without it we have...

-No Gears
-No Suspension
-Fixies
-Bad Haircuts
-Skinny Jeans

Put another way, you want EVO all over your bike, otherwise you're just gonna end up looking like you're from Bristol, with your fixie, your retro hair and your sister's jeans... ๐Ÿ˜‰

No. It means "You Just Can't Do It" in Finnish. Seriously:

http://www.acronymfinder.com/EVO.html

But the Hope Pro2: You Just Can't Do It doesn't have the same ring (or fit on the hub) so they went with EVO for short.

For it to be Evolution bikes would have to have sex and that's a myth.

It does make a little sense- "This isn't a totally new product, it's an evolved and improved version of the old one". Though in practice, it does seem to have about as much meaning as sticking an R on the end of the name, in most cases.

I hadn't realised why the Integrale was called Evo until I saw themanfromdelmonte's post. Now it all makes sense.

And the worst Evo ever, the Fiat Punto Evo. Surely a branding crime!
