The rear wheel howls and vibrates when going at speed without pedalling and if you back pedal the chain bunches up.Can anyone tell me if its the freehub thats the problem and if so how much it might cost to sort out?
Thanks
Seems to be a common fault - Ebay is the best place for spares if you can't find locally.

That is the dreaded death squeal. How old are they? I had it on an old set of XL's and they started howling on an Alps trip. Stripping and lubing the bushing can help short-term.
A new feehub will be around £35 but a strip and re-lube should sort it.
It's a 20/30 min job and very simple to do.
Have the same problem with mine, LBS said they are stuffed..........so took them 15mile down the road to another shop......they lubed them up.
I now have it done once a year........no problems now
I might buy a load of bushings from the guy in thr US who has std and very lightly oversized bushings in stock.
Stops cassette wobble , makes for sharper , better shifting and no scream
I'd split the cost/postage with if you like, STM, I need one too! email in profile if you fancy that...
i'll go in with that too if i may, i could do with one soon.
he also sells on e-bay .
