Just checking if there's anything obvious I've forgotten to add and if the pricing feels right for nowhere-near-London.
Thanks
Very reasonable
How much to fit a tube?
Prices look too cheap - I'm loving that picture at the bottom of the page 🙂
haha oh god I remember that thread, what's considered by you a "reasonable/fair price for a new inner and fitting"?
I like the graphic of the bike. Tyre though - not Tire 🙂
I'm not falling in to that trap
(Seek out Cynic-al's rates - but undercut him by 10%)
Seems quite cheap when you include the time taken to bleed brakes and true wheels.
If the bike has wonky wheels, a threaded steerer, cup-n-cone hubs and old fashioned BB, that's a lot of farting about for not much money
Think i'm being silly but what's a 'collect a collect service', and pop a space in the cytec bit, 1 &2 at present.
Seems a little too cheap to me.
I'd happily use you at that price! My lbs charges about 50% more for a similar service I think.
Should there be a "currency to cake" converter for those classic LBS mechanic moments?
Seems too cheap to me; are parts are included ?
Bronze is rightish, silver could be a little more but gold is a steal!
Having said that, I have no idea what bike shops charge.
Way too cheap. Especially with collect and deliver.
Good prices, the gold service seems especially good value. Are you operating out of a high st premesis or doing the work at home ?
Very cheap. £55 for a brake bleed, all the bearings packing and adjusted and new cables sounds almost too good to be true. Put it like this, I love tinkering with my bike but for that price I'd be tempted to just give it to you.
£55 for a brake bleed, all the bearings packing and adjusted and new cables sounds almost too good to be true.
Where did the brake bleed come in? Listed separately in the site..
Too cheap. The shop I used to work in (a possible rival of yours from Dundee) was told it was too cheap by a rep when we were charging something like this-
£10 for tube + repair
£25 for a bronze
£40 for a silver
£75 for a gold (I certainly wouldn't want to clear out Terry the Tourer's hub bearings for £55!)
I think the prices I list above are still reasonable (though with tube prices these days it's probably nearer £12.50 for a tube and repair, and I'd be amazed if they hadn't gone up since I left 3 years ago). Work on £15-20 for hydro brakes, charge more for Avids if you feel like it.
Those prices were still low enough that your average non-cyclist wouldn't balk at them, and it was easy to bump up an extra £15 to the silver.
cp, gold service, bottom line, "hydraulic brakes bled"
Is that labour only or including parts?
If the former then they're too cheap, if the latter then they're batshit crazy!
Ok i've amended the pricing a bit. I think it's hard because me and the owner are really into bikes and obviously do all our own repairs and it seems like putting the prices higher is almost like making them beyond what I would ever pay. But that's obviously a terrible mindset. If anyone lives about pop in and say hi! (we're just north of the high street on Murray St)
how can something be too cheap?
that's about what I'd be prepared to pay so I'd say it's spot on!
someone will be along soon to say that you should 'charge what the market will bear'...
collect and deliver_ service or
collectION and delivery service
Please!
Prices do look good value (i.e., cheap - especially Silver). They must be, because dedicated spanner-at-home bike nuts on here like myself are already considering you doing it at those prices. I assume those are labour only.
Good luck.
You've got to bear in mind with pricing the state some stuff is going to come to you in, like evrything seized and filthy, so your bronze service cost will be eaten by the time just cleaning the crap off it before you can do the work 😉
You'll be busy.......and skint.
Bit cheap but then you'll tap in well to the lazy sods that can't be arsed to do the majority of easy stuff themselves!
What's the difference between a tune and an adjustment, in my book they are the same thing, because you are not going to tune anything without making an adjustment.
You're substantially cheaper than my LBS- their equivalent services are £ 35, 50 and 80 a pop
