Interesting read:

I wonder if the 999 response would have been as swift if it wasn't a copper.

Sounded to me like a Police Car was near at the time:

Within seconds, I hear the sirens of a passing police car flick on

No, you're too cynical.

It wasnโ€™t until I was a victim of a violent crime myself that I realised how nice it is to be in a borough of London where the police does show up quickly, and are able to help.

See? Nothing at all to do with him being a copper. He was just lucky he was in one of those many boroughs of London which doesn't have much crime.

The police would never prioritise on an incident if it were one of their own colleagues, each incident is considered on it's own merit.

Your monitor is gash (or you have it badly set up) - but you can read the same story here in black-on-white of you prefer:

Yeah is interesting, glad he's ok and the scrotes have been caught which means they are not out there doing it to less able/capable people.

Sorry if that's not the chronically cycnical STW response you were looking for.

Appropriate punishment would be to put lots of garrot wires up around that park apart from on one 'lucky' route and then make the b*rstewards ride through the park at reasonable speeds.

Tough **** if they choose the wrong route.

๐Ÿ˜ฏ Ugh. Horrible story. Glad he got off relatively unscathed and that they caught the nasty little scrotes.

Just read another of his posts. Very informative, but i wonder if he has the permission of the police to be writing about it. Or, very cynical of me, is it a PR exercise by the boys in blue?...

if he has the permission of the police to be writing about it

He is writing under a pseudonym and changing some identifying details.
There are a few other well known copper blogs that do the same thing:

Probably not:
I know exactly what to say to the 999 operators to get the search started as soon as possible

seems a bit odd to me - now i'm no expert* but do people really hang around in parks at 3am with a wire ready to rob passing cyclists - now i'm normally tucked up in bed but years ago worked nights and unless a lot has passed me by the average park is not old style beijing at 3am

*not really applicable on here i know

Have been caught across the chest and arms by a steel wire across a trail before. Luckily id just sat up on the bike or would of been to the face or neck.
Deep bruising so deep that i couldn't move my arms for a week nearly 3 weeks before they were fully operational again.
Must of been 4mm cable wrapped and tacked between 2 posts didnt break it just stopped me dead and had me off the bike.

No one around managed to walk home and call the police they went out and removed the wire. Unfortunately not alot else they could do.

Can I be the STW pedant and point out that a 'garrot' is a short wooden stick, or a type of duck, or an extremely funky helicopter that looks like something out of Space 1999.

useful pedantry started well but went downhill -

that looks like something out of Space 1999

what sort of point of reference is that?
