Anybody had any success setting these up to run tubeless, on tubeless-ready wheels ?
Don't think they are 'officially' tubeless-ready

I'd not use any "non-tubeless" road tyre - manufacturers at least imply that the bead on TL/TLR tyres is less stretchy (and remember the sort of pressures are way above mtb tyres)

Any recommendations then for a tough winter tyre then is TLR ?

hmmmm, not really, depending on what you mean by "tough"

I'm in hampshire and the roads, esp in winter, are lethal to tyres - loads of flinty bits. Conti gatorskins came and went on my bike, just too easily cut.

I'm inclined to say that you prob need to use tubes and "proper" protection round here in winter. Spesh roubaix armadillo is what I've had most success with (though traction wasn't "the best" - not awful but I didn't push my luck on them).

They do a roubaix (the armadillo bit seems to have not made it into the spec) tubeless but it's really pricy and I'm not gambling £50+ on each tyre just to see if they hold up

(Addit: they do make a roubaix pro TBR which has added blackbelt whatever that is, but they're 30mm so won't work for me)

(also the roubaix pro TBR seems not to be a UK line - presumably because our roads are so clean and dry all the time 🙄 )

Interesting - I've been using both Conti Sport Contacts (28mm) and Vittoria Voyager (37mm) tyres tubeless at 85 and 70psi respectively for over 2 years...no punctures in 12000km and nothing bad has ever happened. They're not tight on the rims either, the Voyagers are as loose on the rims as D Trump is with the truth.

Not tubeless rims either, H-plus Son Archetype and Hunt Mason. Admittedly, if a bike is left long enough (2 weeks or more) and the tyres deflate, because there's no beadlock, they need to be rapid pressurized to mount again.

A friend recommended Hutchinson Intensives, there's a TLR version. Thinking I might give those a go, any one tried them ?
They did get bad reviews for grip in the wet, but there's a '2' version now that is supposed to be much better.

It's not recommended to run non tubeless tyres much above 60 psi as there is a possibility of it blowing off the rim. However it may work as detailed above.

For tubeless ready I would recommend Schwalbe S Ones.

My Schwalbe Pro Ones went on and up perfectly, first time on the Kona - no sealant required.

I had the same quandary and went for Huthinson Fusion 5 All Seasons.

Very impressed so far after about 2000km. Apparently developed with AG2R and the French army race team.

£30 on Wiggle at the moment as well...

I am going to try some of those when they are in stock somewhere. Wiggle should have them in November some time. I will be using them off road for 50% of rides so hoping the fact they are toughish and tubeless should keep the punctures away and mean I don't have to use heavy and lifeless commuting type tyres to avoid punctures.

I'd second the pro-one. Great tyre, really grippy
And if you run it with sealant it'll be very "tough" (well puncture resistant).

I'll third it, only don't ride it in southern hampshire if it's remotely wet - flinty pucnturetastic
The older "the one" tubeless were quite a lot more robust (about 60g more carcass I think)

The pro Ones are not a tough tubeless tyre. I was in the same position a year ago, went ahead with the pro ones (23mm with stans on pacenti sl23 v1), wish I hadn't. I used them daily, they got cut up really easily, and in a short amount of time started to puncture where the hole was too big for the sealant. I've plugged them numerous times which usually works, but have now had several punctures that dont seal or work well with plugs. Patching on the inside has worked in those cases. I can see the threads in several places where small divots or chunks have been gouged out of the tire (this happened alarmingly quickly). The sidewalls are also looking very poor. Great tyres, just not great winter robust tyres.

Schwalbe S-One

+1 Pro One isn't a tough tyre like the 4Seasons. The older 'One' is tougher and works quite well as a winter tyre in 28mm guise.

Imagine they are. I have never heard of BikeInn so wouldn't buy from there anyway as can do without dealing with another internet shop that doesn't actually have the stock, awaiting refund etc,. but good luck
