So I've worn a hole through on the butt of some shorts I own, no issue I'll buy more.. found they now have a £150 price tag, so now I'm looking for either some repair tape or a repair service ;D

I've tried using some tenacious tape I already have, but it cracked and failed quickly. Google suggest Spinnaker Tape is the way to go, but am looking to see what other ppl might have tried/used and whether they were successful.

Also cheap as it's always on sail!

I bought a black pair of trousers to replace some riding trousers having started to go through the bum.

I didn't like the new ones so cut the bum out and sewed a complete new bum on the old trousers.

Other bum repairs have included just sewing a similar colour patch on the inside.

What type of shorts are they, material wise?

I've used spinnaker tape to repair an old Rab down jacket. It adhered well to the hole and has stayed stuck for over a year. I got mine through ebay. It was only a few pounds for enough for several repairs.

I used the same tape on a pertex windshirt. All was well until it was washed.

I'd go for sewing material to the shorts. There are adhesive tapes that can be ironed onto the shorts along with the patch material to secure the patch, then sew.

It's Leatt Hydradri (their goretex) but all the seam tapes have failed, so sealing isn't 100% necessary

PS: Very good @razorrazoo

Can recommend Scottish Mountain Gear if you want to go pro-repair - https://www.scottishmountaingear.com/

No need. High street seamstress will do that job for £15 with a metre of fabric you provide from an outfit like this:

This is true. I've had some great alterations and repairs from high street tailors.

The Alpkit repair team at Betws-y-Coed have a good reputation and have sorted several bits of kit out for me.

Must admit i was rather sceptical at first, but I am really pleased with the quality of their repairs and alterations.

My wife has repaired several pairs of shorts for me with off cuts from other shorts, but as most of my shorts wear out quite fast I normally send a photo to the manufacturer and proof of how recently I bought them and they replace them.

It’s ficking ridiculous that companies making bike specific clothing don’t actually design them for that purpose.

Kinesio tape works for me, washes pretty well and cheap and easy to replace when it becomes a bit tatty.
