I'm thinking of sprucing up my 456. What's the best way to strip it? Will Nitromors do it and how long's it likely to take?

Also, can anyone recommend a powder coater in Surrey (Dorking area)?

Ta

The powder coater should strip it for you too. I believe that they use bead blasting and it will be included in the price. What colours you thinking of?

I was thinking about getting a re-spray done and am in the same area as you. Didn't get as far as contacting them but I was going to try...

...based in Mitcham and they do mention "catering for the general public, undertaking refurbishment of gates, garden furniture, ornamental sculptures, bikes etc."

It's a 456, ride it around a little longer and all the paint will fall off by itself ๐Ÿ™‚

The coater might charge for the stripping, but it's not likely to be more than the cost of a bottle of nitromors and a pair of rubber gloves so it's not generally worth trying to save it.

Get them to strip it. If you can avoid nitromers it's for the best. They'll need to prep it before they powder coat it anyway (degrease and blast).

If you go down the nitromers route it's pretty quick, especially on the 456 paint.

OK, thanks all for the advice and thanks Nuke for the link.

I found this place http://www.purposepowdercoatings.com/, which isn't too far from my work, and they do mention bike frames, so I'll probably give both places a call and see who sounds best.

Anyone got first-hand experience of anywhere else in Surrey/S.London?
