We're going to Afan next Saturday and we'd expect to ride 30-odd miles. We'll be starting from Afan Lodge if that makes any odds.

W2 and Skyline look like good candidates.

Any recommendations given the likely crap weather we're likely to have this week?

Skyline is a bit sh1t IMO
Do W2 with penhydd in the middle would be my recommendation.

The wall's final descent is great. Worth a blast.

Yep dont bother with all of Skyline. You could do is go as far round as "On the Edge" then take the shortcut at 36 then head all the way back to 4 (where the final singletrack descent crosses the first climb) & head back upto the top (dont worry it doesnt take long to do) & then finish off with Whites.

We like Penhydd, then Whites and then a short Skyline just really taking in the climb, across the fireroad on top, and the final descent. Start early.

I'll go against the grain a put a good word in for skyline (the long version). It's a good ride if you want to test your endurance a bit and don't mind climbing (2000m elevation compared to 900m on W2). Yes there's a fair bit of fire road in there, but then what about that bast@rd fire road climb on the wall!? ...that seems to go on forever!

Having said that though, if you want the most single track, ride Whites, July (shortcut skyline) and Penhydd. Do W2 only if you can be arsed with a neverending fireroad in the middle!

We're also heading to Afan this coming weekend. Usually do W2 on the Saturday and a blast round Penhydd on the Sunday morning before the drive back.

What're current conditions like on the Afan trails? Any damage from the recent storms?

The ground is saturated but the trails are riding fine, i think there are some closures on skyline at the moment, did the final section of the wall yesterday and the weather doesn't really effect it...
