Living in Reading, I've ridden everything between home and the M40 times beyond number but really venture north of the motorway as it requires a car drive and I don't know the best bits. Does anyone have some good loops to share?

Don't know whether it is too far from you but Hicks Lodge near Ashby de la Zouche has a couple of loops that a quite fun. Did the blue one with the boy en route from Wales to the North a year or so ago.

The 'National Forest ' website also has some other places and routes on their website. I guess it is mainly M42 rather than M40 area but may be worth a look.

Loads of stuff in and around the Chilterns. Have a look around Wendover way.
