got an 06 reign. stripping the paint to do a repair then i'm going to go 1x10 so need a chain device. problem is the pivots etc don't offer much clearence etc. it doesn't have iscg so i will have to get a bb fitting type chain guide. the question is which chain guide will work best?

I know the BB Mount E13 XCX will fit it, 'cos I fitted one to a mate's Reign (he powdercoated and went 1x10 too, coincidentally).

Found it hard to get it lined up how I'd like though, as he was using a 32t ring, do hard to get the device close to the ring without it fouling the chainrign bolts. A bigger ring will work better.

I put an MRP Lopes on my Soul yesterday, have MRP on three bikes now, I think they're a better shape than E13.

Guides on Reigns are a real pain in the arse. Because the chainstays are so low, I've always found that the guide gets knocked upwards and piches the chain into the stays when going over logs or down big steps.

In the end I've made my own - looks a bit crap but works just fine.

Basically a bit of tin with some holes in it for cable ties.

The roller is 2 old suspension bearings (the small ones at the top of the swing arm) held on a biro and covered with a long layer of innertube glued on with contact adhesive.

Sounds really Heath Robinson but it works fine and is quiet. Has worked for a year now in Rocky Spain.

I've also mounted a flat piece of metal with a BB sized hole in it so that if the cahin does come off, it will land on the granny ring - not a problem with a 1x10 though.

going to have a 36 up front so that shouldn't be too much of a problem. my cable guide is snapd so i'm getting a new one tig'd on. was considering asking the welder to put a iscg tabs on too. though i'm aware this might not be a good idea.
