Been tweaking my young-uns bike.
With a single ring up front (removed the middle and inner rings from the original 3ring crank, leaving the outer) and a 7speed block out back, the chainline means is pretty kinked in gears1-3. Ok when pedalling but when he pedals backwards the chain drops off the front ring.
What's the best cheap solution? Chainguides seem pretty pricey but I guess would work. Can I somehow change the front ring line distance?
if its a square taper bottom bracket then a longer one will move the chainset over and improve the chainline.
Cheap solution = tell him to stop pedaling backwards!! 😉
Dibbs - already done that! Doesn't work.
Toppers - chainset needs to move inwards.
I have a N-Gear jump stop chain thingy combined with a bashguard on my 1-9 setup. Haven't dropped my chain since installed.
