[Closed] Carbon seatpost on a steel HT?

I just built a Cotic Soul and it currently has a stop-gap Thomson inline seatpost.

I need a few mm layback, and was thinking of a USE Sumo carbon (open to alternatives - 27.2 x 400, 10mm-ish layback).

Does anyone ride something like this? Notice any difference? I have a small theory that an uber-rigid seatpost in a flexi steel frame locks energy in the frame making the rear end a tad skittish, and perhaps a softer seatpost would even it out over the bike as a whole. Or that could be nonsense.

Ta.

I've a Dialled Prince Albert and use an FSA slk carbon post with no problems. In fact I find it very comfy.

I had a 456 with a thomson post on it and the back end hurt it was too stiff
Changed the post to a carbon post and it improved the comfort quite alot

Changed the 456 for a soul problem sorted ๐Ÿ˜€

I've an XCR PRO 27.2x400mm in an Orange R8 and it does all the things a carbon seatpost is meant to.

Just building my Soul and got a Use Sump with 30mm layback but the alloy version. Looks great and in the frame it has a fair bit of flex. Cant comment on how it rides yet though. Will let you know

Steel Genesis iO frame with an Easton EC90 seatpost, albeit an inline one. Never ridden the frame with an alloy post, but have ridden an alloy frame with the carbon post, and the same alloy frame with an alloy post.

Feels great, and never noticed the back end being skittish. But in any situation where it might have been, I've been off the saddle, so it doesn't make much difference.

Had an Inbred with an Exotic carbon post and it was pretty comfy, but having never ridden it with any other post i can't say if it was better or worse.

Kenesis Decade Virsa Prestige frame with a Raceface Dues carbon post. Very comfy ta'. Never run it with an alu post. But I did run my Giant XTC alu frame with an alu post, before swapping for an FSA SL-K carbon post, which was a big improvement.

I have just that. Like in an alloy frame, you can at times feel a slight 'flex' but it fits fine, stays put and holds the seat on. (I use carbon paste too) If i dropped the saddle a lot I would have an alloy one on it instead though.

I had a carbon sumo on a soul, splodged some pace carbon shield on and it was fine, had a Thomson for a bit too but they are indeed stiff, the clamp on the sumo needs more tlc IMO and trailside saddle angle adjustment can be a pita which can involve a bit of Rock bashing octopus stylee...

I currently ride a 456 with a Thomson post and have no issues with it. I guess a carbon post could make it comfier but I also find a decent saddle helps.

Had first ride on my new Cotic Soul with USE alloy post. The frame is pretty comfy out back and with a bel air saddle felt great.

Dont feel a carbon post would improve comfort much
