righty, i have acquired a fizik gobi carbon railed seat (jesus this thing is crazy light).....however i cant get it to fit in the seat rail holders, as it has the tape wrapped around it obviously thickens the diameter of the rails.....its on a x fusion hilo seatpost, the normal gobi goes on fine, so its defo not me being a retard....question is do i have to leave that tape/wrap on the rails for safety reasons? or can i remove that as then the carbon rails will be the same size as the normal gobi kium rails?

I'd leave it. Usually you need a different sized clamp to fit a carbon railed saddle to a seatpost. Most seatpost manufacturers sell them separately, I dont know whether X fusion do?

Alterantively, take a file to the current clamp.

Evening..
Carbon railed saddles, usually only work with seatposts that clamp "top-to-bottom" much like a Thomson.

I believe that your 'x fusion hilo seatpost' clamps from the side? which means that the curve in the metal where the rails sit is not big enough!
I know with seatposts like the S-Works (Has a similar clamp design) you can get spare clamps that will then take a carbon rail. Maybe worth an email to X Fusion?

As for the other question.. Nope don't take the tape off. Thats the braided part of the rail, and the bit that stops it snapping!

Josh.
