Saw the Canyon Stoic on GMBN the other day and really liked the look of it. Anyone got one ? I’m thinking about sizes. I am 5’ 6” so small or medium ? Hoping it has 27.5 wheels ? Not a fan of Suntour forks though. Did any come with better spec ?

Canyon website would answer wheel and spec questions!

I have a Lux Trail - great bike and Canyon's customer service has been excellent.
As far as the sizing goes - use the tool on Canyon's website. I'm 6' and ride a medium Canyon which frankly surprised me but it fits perfectly. At 5' 6" I strongly suspect you'd need a small if the Stoic sizing is anything like the Lux.

As fatmax says the website has all spec details. S size has 27.5" wheels.

Only the bottom one has Suntour forks - they’re air ones though so aren’t awful.

Most for the Stoics are 29er except the extra small and small which is 27.5

At 5’6 and assuming a 30’ leg (just had a guess) Canyon recommend the small. At 5’9 with fairly short arms but a 32” leg is definitely get the medium.

The middle Stoic has a recon as an upgrade over a Suntour 34 and Sram SX 12 speed vs deore 10 speed.

I don’t think the fork is a big upgrade tbh - it has smaller stanchions than the Suntour but perhaps it might last a bit better over time.

Sx is junk and the rear mech will probably snap off in short order - but you could just replace it with Gx and it should then be sturdier. It’s got a PowerSpline bb which isn’t great either and they don’t tend to last well.

I’d be tempted to take the cheapest one and swap the rear mech / shifter / cassette for Deore 11 speed M5100. That would give you nearly the same range as 12 speed for a decent cost but with more reliability than Sram SX or NX. The Suntour fork will be fine for a while - if you love the bike then you could always upgrade it to a Pike / Revelation or similar in time.

Many thanks Joe. You know your stuff on Canyons. And small looks about right. I’ll keep checking eBay from now on….
