I've searched various forums about this but can't find a definitive answer so asking on here.
Will a SRAM 12 speed gx shifter work with a Shimano 12 speed mech?
Also, if it works, is there any functional difference between xt, slx and deore mechs?
It's for an eeb so not too bothered about weight really. Just so long as shifting is good and it's robust.

I have that exact combo working on my e-bike. Why? I swapped Shimano brakes for SRAM and the Shimano shifter doesn't play nicely with SRAM brake clamps. Shifting quality is spot on. No grumbles.
Gx shifter + SLX mech and SRAM cassette.

Yeah I have gx shifters and shimano mechs on both bikes. Slx on one, deore on the other. GX shifters because both bikes were full GX to begin with. Now on shimano due to price and availability. No issues to report.
12 spd GX shifter paired with 12 spd SLX rear mech here and no issues 👍
Works absolutely fine. I have SLX mech with GX Eagle shifter on 2 bikes.
