I bought last years model with cane creek deb inline whilst feeling plush bobs a fair bit, if I sort the bob out then it's not that special. Wondered if anybody was running a monarch plus and if their findings.
Likewise it's not overly slack and I'm interested to at least try another .5 degrees with an offset bushing. Anybody done that it's any adverse effects?
Mines the ex model so running 150mm pikes.
how are you sorting the bob? LSC or pressure?
Increased lsc. I already had the psi slightly more than suggested.
You should be able to sort the pedal bob on the inline. Do you mean seated climbing or sprinting out of the saddle?
Firstly, suggested PSI doesn't mean much. What sag are you running and what LSC/HSC?

Don't go by what is suggested, set air pressure to what sag you want 25-30% generally then set up using the CC app
I've got 2 offset bushes in my cf.9.0ltd with 140mm fox , its so much better !
I've got the inline on mine and feel it bobs a little too much too. Watching this thread with interest.
Lsc, I have three more clicks then then the recommend base to try and reduce the bob, hsc is as base.
It's bit terrible just not ideal for long seated drags on flat stuff, maybe I want my cake and eat it as its not as the rub is that's it's not as comfortable as it was when climbing more technical terrain.
Also if I've I've managed 6 or 7 rides on it including some good bu by stuff like the .garburn descent and some jumps around gisburn and the CB hasn't broke yet does that mean I have managed to find one of the good ones.
Seriously considering adding bushes and when the forks need a service I'll get one of those vorsprung air shaft upgrade kits. As it pretty wooden running relatively low pressure 60 psi so small bump sensitivity is poor, forearms are taking a smashing on long descents. If I lose some pressure then it's sitting into the travel a touch, steepening the he'd angle more and diving on bigger hits.
I have a 2015 spectral with the inline. I got mine feeling pretty good with less bob but after a bit of fettling, I then sent it to tf tuned and it come back feeling awesome not sure of the settings off the top of my head. they put some volume spacers in aswell.
also is it that bad using the climb switch?
also definitely try the offset bushings. I put one in and it feels great. been meaning to put the second in and see how that feels but I recon I do a bit to much climbing.
Interesting thread - I've got a 2016 Spectral (9.0 CF EX) and haven't touched the DB Inline other than to set the sag and ride off merrily into the sunset. Never felt the need to slacken anything off (most of my riding is steep sketchy stuff in the Lakes) and it doesn't bob too much either. When climbing I flick the climb switch and that's about it!
I actually couldn't tell you where any of the dials are set - it just works 😆

but don't be surprised to find that the app just deletes your setup after a while 🙄

don't be surprised if your 2 year old daughter deletes the app from your phone either ha ha ha ha.
I didn't record my settings in the app as they don't have a choice for the IL coil. I think it deleted my initial tune when I was sorting the shock out when it updated the app.
Bieber. I thought I had mine good. I didn't really do anything apart from sag like you. but having a professional set it up made such a difference. these shocks are a lot better than a lot of people that own them will know
I have been thinking about a bush kit (plus mine have worn out, so the perfect time) I have also replaced the air shaft on my pikes to take them from 150mm upto 160mm . but I don't think I have really slacked it out as I run a tad more sag now to let it track the ground better
edit - I have the inline, it now has the blue bit out of the bottom of the aircan (something was updated from cranecreek, and mine was fixed this time last year.) but it always felt good using the base settings
Everyone gives such a different view on this bike and the DB shock.
I'm waiting on a pair of offset bushes to arrive so stumbled on this forum and it's interesting to read. I don't like the shock. I can't get it sitting in the right sag without being too descent focused, and I'm bashing the cranks off rocks when pedalling and climbing. Canyons recommended 15mm makes it way too firm so I go for a third instead.
I can't get all the travel out of it even then. I've removed all the spacers and I have all the damping wide open, except for 1 turn HS rebound to stop it bucking. The factory settings were too firm and slow. The bike would snag on descents. I just can't get it right. It went to TF as it failed and was squelching. Their settings were a bit wild - 12 turns LS compression. I'm in the lakes so it needs to be supple and fast reacting as its so choppy here. I reckon the bike would be better with a basic Fox but they're so dear. It's a weird beast is the DB.
Be interesting to see what these bushes do. It needs a bit of slackening out but I reckon the BB might be a tad low so I'm thinking of putting the 160mm air shaft in the Pike to try and correct that a bit. Should be mean then!
Another vote for the TF Tuned route. Sent mine for service and tune. Came back with very different settings to those suggested by cane creek, but it was a thousand times better. I have no idea how hey do it but whatever it is it works.
pedaling and climbing would be a lot better with the CS engaged. not getting full travel also isn't a big deal depending on the trail obviously.
15mm is 30% sag which should be more than enough.
my advice would be to open all the settings up and set LSR using the kerb then ride the bike and adjust using the app.
what weight are youi?
I use the climb switch. However, the climb switch doesn't do what a Float does in that the shock still sits into the sag, then firms up rather than being firm off the top. It would be better if it was, allowing the head angle to be steeper and stop that initial squat but still have compliance for square edge hit etc. That's how i expected it to be from reading about it.
15mm sag is surely less than 30%? Not getting full travel kind of eliminates the point of having it, no? Without wanting to sound like a self-titled hero, it gets pretty gnarly round these parts so needing everything you've got isn't so rare.
My point really is that (and i'm comparing to a previous bike - also 140) the back end of the bike just doesn't feel compliant and i question the shock. To get it feeling somewhat plush requires a drop in pressure, which i don't like as then the climbing ability of the bike is compromised and it sits low. This may sound obvious but actually it shouldn't be the case. I never needed to use the CTD on the Zesty i had and that thing ripped on climbs and went smoothly through all its travel on descents. I think the DB lacks midrange support, meaning more pressure is required. But, plenty of differing complaints and praises for it so who can say?
Current settings are open with no spacers. A bit of HSR to keep it under control off jumps.
I'm roughly 13st with gear on.
TF settings when they returned it after taking my weight, type of riding and terrain/location are: 180PSI, HSR1, LSR12, HSC1, LSC5. 2.5WT
Maybe i'll revert to these and have another bash from there.
the climb switch is a lot better than the float or the monarch as it doesn't just stiffen up the shock. it works very well with my coil IL.
15mm is 30% sag, it has a stroke of 50mm and I'm assuming you are setting sag while seated?
what size jumps/drop offs are you doing? 13st and not bottoming out the shock with no spacers suggests an issue with the shock given the leverage curve.
my orginal set up for the ghost was 170psi for 30% sag with
LSC - 5 clicks from minimum (0-18)
HSC - 1 turn from minimum (0-4.5)
LSR - 14 clicks from maximum (0-18)
HSR - 1.5 turns from maximum (0-4.5)
I eventually had to add 1 whole and 2 strips of volume reducers to prevent bottoming out.
When's the revised model out? Just seen that TF will upgrade to it for £174.
