Can't message people about adverts

It defaults back to the singletrack homepage... That's exactly my point above guys...

If you go to your own profile, then put in another users profile in the URL, it doesn't work (for me anyway)

Try removing the useless bit on the end of your link so it’s more like

https://singletrackworld.com/user/username

It works for me at least, maybe your target user has something different about their set up? Name the name and I will see what I get

the useless bit was put in there by the software when i tried to put the URL as it links it..

But unless i'm missing something, changing the profile name doesn't work at the moment.

I can use that method to find various users including you but Davros just sends me to the home page. Maybe that isn’t their user name?

that's bizarre then.... I don't have the answer... It's deffo their username... they've got a stem in the classifieds i was wanting to ask about.

Is this something to do with the usernames in the classifieds don’t always line up with the names on the forum?

Iirc when I post in classifieds it’s as MattP but on the forum its iwbmattkyt

I’ve put more effort into this than I would for myself 🤣 I just accept the site is a bit rubbish, shrug and move on

yeah I tried it from a few of their posts/threads with the same result.

It's not even that i'm desperate for the stem lol... it was just an idea i was throwing in my head.. i can buy a Raceface one from Winstanleys for the same money hahahaha

Davros does appear to respond to comments on ads and a comment appears to be your only hope of communication at present

@weeksy Some users take advantage of the privacy ie account -> privacy
Each user can hide themselves from the directory and you wont be able to get those users profiles.
Users can also decide to only accept messages from 'friends'.
This is why some users can and can't be messaged using the http://singletrackworld/user/username link.
We are going to populate classifieds with a message me button. The old one disappeared by accident not design.
We hope to make this feature better, would have done it sooner but stuff happens that gets in the way!

ST needs to move it's website from some random home PC to a properly hosted site

This is definitely a big problem on the site just now - I was about to pay to boost my three classifieds ads yesterday but I haven't because there's no point - no one can reach me if I boost them anyway!

I fail to see what possible reason one could have for keeping everything on the sparsely populated "profile" page private, especially if they're trying to sell stuff. Most of the information isn't compulsory anyway. Just makes me suspicious.
