anyone been canoeing on the river dovey?
know of any hire places there or in the area?
thanks
Have a small boat down in the esturay so have sailed it but not any further up than dovey junction as you run out of depth and it's sand banks galore, lots of people canoe it. Not sure where you could hire them from though.
done a search and nothing shows up.
though someone local might have a bit of inside knowledge.
Sorry can't think of anything, outward bound have then but think they don't hire them.
I'd lend you my boat (it has oars) but it's waiting for a coat of paint.
There is a place on the A458 that does something like that though, I'll have a search
ha! www.dragonriverltd.com
Try these guys, not too far away, doesn't say they hire but says they do training so must have 'em if not must be able to point you in the right direction.
Maybe worth a look at

Ton, I could be wrong but I've got a feeling that you can't canoe on the river once you get above the tidal range ... stops been tidal above Dovey Junction.
You might be able to hire something (sea kayak) in Aberdyfi.
Not much worth paddling I don't think. You'd be better off looking at the Dulas which runs beneath the ClimachX trail from Coris direction down the the Dyfi. It's grade 3 though with a grade 6 waterfall which requires a portage.
If you are after canadian canoes and serene river paddling, I'm not sure we can offer many decent stretches of suitable water in the area.
cheers gents..........
was looking for the more sedate stuff.
think the sight of white water rapids would have the mrs throwing a wobbler.......... 😉
Did this in '82 with Outward Bound Aberdovey.
Down the river, along the estuary, through the breakwater then out to sea.
