Seen a good deal on a new Scapel and was about to pull the trigger before I read about the Ai Offset.  I hate these bespoke standards.

Has it been much of a problem for anyone who has owned 'Dales getting new wheels etc?

Previous versions of the Topstone used this and I looked into it before purchasing mine. Seems like most folk managed to re-dish a "standard" wheel without needing to change spokes. FWIW, the current Topstone doesn't use AI Offset so maybe Cannondale are dropping the concept?

Ok, two thoughts:

How often do people really buy new wheels?
Wheel builder should be able to re-dish (if memory serves, isn’t the rim centred on the hub flanges?) but it might need new spokes?

I have this on Mark 1 Topstone and also had a similar thing on a Last Fastforward.

I hasn't proved to be an issue as said outside of re dishing the back wheel your going to be using.   5mm movement to either side is usually covered within the existing spoke length and chainsets should be able to be spaced to suit.

If your buying a complete bike and change your wheels, use the original back wheel to set the relevant arm on your wheel jig to the correct dish then true the new wheel to that.

I've upgraded the wheels and the chainset on the Topstone with non Cannondale items it just took a bit of thought.

Obliviously non A.i is easier for upgrades but I wouldn't let it put you off a really good deal, but also check out the bottom bracket standard on the Scapel to see what  chainsets will fit when it comes to replacement as Cannondale can be a bit limiting  there on road and gravel bikes but not sure about MTB.

Thanks for replies. Food for thought. Like to have option of spare wheel set with different tyres especially as I've only just bought a pair Hunts. Think I'll leave it for now.

Wheel-wise it's not too big a deal - I've re-dished one wheel 6mm across fine. Makes for a better wheel so i'm ok with it, although of course you can't easily share wheels.

The BB and chainset can be more of a PITA. Think the Scalpel is 73mm AI BB which makes things a bit easier - I have Supersix SE which has an 83mm AI BB which gives a very limited selection of BBs and chainsets for the AXS groupset it came with (basically 1 BB and 2 chainsets).
