New poster here so be nice!

I bought my self the rize 4 three and a half months ago and it hasn't had any abuse whatsoever, if anything i have ridden it like a little girl!

I was doing some maintenance yesterday and came across this!

I have taken it back to Leisure Lakes today who said that they will talk to Cannondale over it. Hopefully it wont take them too long to sort it!!

As an owner of four 'Dales I will be very interested to hear how you get on with your warranty claim.

They make a big thing about their lifetime warranty. But do not forget your legal contract is with Leisure Lakes not Cannondale. ( I am sure Stoner and TJ will correct me if I am wrong)

By the way I had a warranty issue with a fork on my F4 hard tail which was acknowledged and resolved within 48 hrs vis Primers in Bournemouth.

If its any consolation, leisure lakes (daventry) were really good when my gemini swingarm snapped. It was a couple of months out of warrenty and they/cannondale still honoured it!

Shouldn't be a problem.

I hope it gets sorted quickly and that the warranty is honoured.

Leisure Lakes (Nottingham) didn't seem to think it should be a problem so hopefully it gets resolved quickly. I enquired about a demo bike or something to keep me going but that was a no go.

The rize is my only bike and i was looking forward to getting out at the weekend. Sh*t happens i guess ๐Ÿ™‚

I've had 3 frames warrantied by CDale over the years - no problems at all. They've all been done smoothly, albeit a bit slowly (one was Leisure lakes Southport now that I think back). Think it depends on how well the shop is in with the CDale rep as far as speed goes, but it will definitely get warrantied if you're the original owner.

Also the Cannondale forum on MTBR.COM is a great source of information and advice on all things 'Dale.

I am the original owner and haven't even had it 4 months so i was a bit surprised when i discovered it to be honest!

Garry_Lager - Can you remember roughly how long it took them to sort it out for you? I was thinking it should be sorted in a month max or am i dreaming?

A month max sounds reasonable, sure. I've not been in Leisure Lakes for years, but last I was there they were doing loads of cannondales, so it should be a standard thing for them. Saying that, I've never had a warranty just nodded through by the shopowner, it's always needed to get approval from CDale, which seems to take a few weeks.

Cannondale are really good with their warranty claims. Let's face it, they've had enough practice over the years! The one I bought lasted approx 15 minutes so I guess 4 months is pretty good.

Cannondale's head-office for europe are in the netherlands, but their warranty department is in switzerland. If they are prepared to take your dealer's word for it they should have you sorted out in no time, if they request to see the swingarm it may take some more time... Good luck!

Keep us posted on the outcome, they keep telling us they've changed from how they used to be, so am interested.(possible vested interest)

Your contract is with the retailer not the manufacturer and your rights under the sale of goods act are ( roughly summed up) that in a case like this it should be replaced.

There should be no unreasonable delay in replacing it. I'd give them 2 wks to have the replacement delivered or return your money. ( thats my opinion NOT the law) Repair / replace / refund - its the buyers choice.

http://www.berr.gov.uk/whatwedo/consumers/fact-sheets/page38311.html

So have a read of the link. decide what fits your case. Go to the shop and tell them ( not ask) for the remedy you want. If they don't comply then go to the small claims court in the end.

having said all that I have never heard of cannondale not replacing in these circumstances.
edit - from the above link

remember any remedy has to be carried out "without significant inconvenience" and within a "reasonable time" for the consumer.

Two whole days have gone by and no one has used Cannondale's 'Crack 'n' Fail' alias.

Shape up, people, there's insults to throw!

I got my bike back today, Cannondale sent a new swing arm and it was replaced under warranty.

Quite pleased as it took a lot less time than i thought and very little hassle, BUT it has got me feeling a bit dubious! I hope this one lasts longer than 4 months ๐Ÿ™‚
