I keep coming across pace on sports tracking websites but can't find an explanation of what it actually is and how it can be used
can someone help me out?
I thought I was going to be able to wax lyrical about northern monkeys and shoddy products then, but no...
Isn't pace the time it takes you to cover a distance, seems popular with runners particularly 'doing 7 minute miles' etc.
Rather than distance per time (eg mph) Pace is time per distance - eg 4 minute mile
Pace is simply the rate in time at which you travel a certain distance, usually a mile/km.
For example:
Pace = time/distance e.g., minutes/mile; minutes/kilometre
Whereas speed is:
Speed = distance/time e.g., km/min or km/hr; miles/min
Ahh, ok that makes sense
Is pace measures in standard units, eg minutes per km
Is there an advantage to using pace?

Its up to you. I normally stick to minutes per mile (running) choose a method and stick to it for comparison.
