I have an old (05) Slayer with XT rear mech. I quite like the look of these new jobs, where the cable doesn't loop round. I don't buy the 'reduced catching' marketing coz I've never caught anything in that loop 🙂 loads in my spokes though.......
Can I just bung one on then??
I have no idea if I have High/low normal shifters/mechs? I click with my thumbs against tension to make the rear mech go up the cassette to the granny ring...is that changing down 🙂
Cheers.
Yes, a Shadow will go on. Obviously you will need to shorten the cable outer a bit (or fit spanky new cables to go with the new mech).
Yep, that all sounds right.
I think the 'reduced catching' thing is more about the body of the mech, Shadow keeps it well under the chainstay instead of sticking out. Now I was sceptical about this until I've bought a new bike recently with an X0 mech, and I'm averaging about 2 massive ****'s a ride, and pretty much never with the XT.
Ooh, sweary filter. Not seen that before.
I have seen more broken XT shadow mechs broken than i care to mention.Just get the normal one save some cash as it will snap.the bit under the hanger is just weak
