Question as in title really... My frame is off on warranty and is going to take an age so looking at getting something cheap in the mean time to keep me riding. Thing is I have 142x10mm wheel axles and most cheap frames come in 135mm flavour. Wondering if it would be alright to squeeze them into a 135mm frame for a month or two worth of use, granted it might wear out my bearings a bit quicker but would it actually work?
Wheels are easton haven mag wheels by the way, don't think they have interchangeable axles...?
Anyone tried it?
You can just swap over end caps to make them 135x12. Then you can use one of these....

Thanks man, any idea where I might find the endcaps?
Ah wait... If I bought them new would they include them with the wheelset? I have just found something in my box of 'bits' that resembles wheelset endcaps
I would have thought they'd be in the box when you bought the wheels.
Yep, my havens came with the endcaps for both 142x12 and 135x12.
Sweet problem solved.. now just to find a hardtail frame that takes 170mm forks...
Spacers in the forks if you can..
