I (and a 11 others) are planning on riding the ridgeway this Saturday starting at Overton Hill.

What sort of state is it in / going to be in with the expected rain this week.

It has been planned since the winter so can't really change the date. What can I expect?

Thanks

I'm from that area and last Saturday was bone dry and rock hard. It's rained a lot since then with more to come. I've not been up since Sat but I imagine it will be claggy and slippy. Sorry that's probably not what you wanted to hear.

I was biking between Marlborough and Barbury Castle (not quite the Ridgeway but next to) on Monday evening and it was fine. A few small puddles but not slippery - I had semi-slicks on with no problems. Should be OK unless we get a few days of rain I would think.

Is the Ridegway easy to follow, or do I need maps and/or gps? Was thinking about doing the west 43 mile section.

Very easy, its well marked 4x4 track, a map is handy though for some sections. I cycled from Aveybury to Goring on Thames
