Strange tingy/pingy sound from my Tinbred last night, stopped to investigate only to find a cracked downtube! I have heard of this issue, but has anyone managed to salvage the frame & how/ who did the repair. Cheers
I bought my tinbred after it had broken and been repaired.
Don't have exact details for the repairer, but it was an ex-Raleigh special products welder.
Before: (not a great photo I'm afraid)

Has been perfect for my existence, not sure of the cost of the repair.
Hope this helps, Mail me and I can put you in contact with the previous owner who had it repaired.
Cheers, Rich
Christ I've never heard of the downtube going. Really sorry to hear this. What year Tinbred is it? I assume its covered by the lifetime warranty, but On One aren't using Lynskey anymore so I wonder what sort of replacement you'll get. No idea about whether a repair is even conceivable in this instance.
I'd like to see pics of the fail
it's pre-lynskey - old style Tinbred from back in the day.
maybe they'll swap for one of the new ones and little dosh ๐
Thanks for all the posts, yes its an old EBB typr DONT confuse with the latest version. Its about 6 years old & was made in eastern Europe from old Russian subs or something!I will upload some pics tonight, but its a crack right under the head tube, in exactly the same place as the o repaired one in the photo.
Wotcha Turboferret I didnt know you had one of those... mine got knicked ๐ฅ
sicole at least it sounds like you can get it fixed. good luck.
Tinsy, had it almost exactly 5 years now, love it.
I hope your Scandal fills the hole your tinbred left ๐
Cheers, Rich

]Tinbred frame[/url]OK epicyclo here is a photo, crack was under the downtube at the weld & propageted to the top in a very short time. IF you hear any starnge pingy noises get off and check your bike before a faceplant is inevitable. Any other ideas on repairs/ warranty from anyone?
Dont let this put anyone off a Tinbred, they are a great ride & this one is the old pre Lynsky type.
Thanks.
