We will be in touch
I have a rim with an effective rim diameter of 329.4 new rim has an effective rim diameter of 326 will I be able to use current spokes or is 3.4mm to much of a variance?
I think you'll find that the spokes won't be threaded for enough of their length. Going the other way would be possible with longer nipples but not what you want to do.
Sorry not 329.4 and 326 but 529.4 and 526!
Spokes are FR Swiss Double butted.
So how ling roughly is the length if the thread?
1cm
Issue will be that you need to do up nipples to far and they'll bottom out on spokes.
If you have 14mm nipples already you may be ok I guess if you went to 12
It depend on the spoke that are in there at the moment. Take all the hub measurement. Go to a spoke calculator, input the figures and calculate the spoke length for each rim, measure your current spoke length and see where is falls relative to the two figures.
My favourite spoke calculator.

Cheers guys, will investigate, no plans to build myself wanted to establish myself before going into LBS. Not going to bother if need new spokes, just wanted to match rims.
I'd do the spoke calc thing with both rims and see what the difference is as above.

Hmmm. Not sure whether you will get away with this.
According to Roger Musson's book if you use the same hub and the same cross pattern then the difference in spoke length needed will be half the difference in the ERD. In your case around 1.7mm less, although it depends on whether the original wheelbuilder rounded up or down (he should ideally have been within a milimetre). How much difference different nipple lengths make depends on the manufacturer. DT swiss nipples do make a difference, although Musson reckons that for practical purposes it is nearer 1mm in spoke length for every 2mm difference in nipple length. For Sapim nipples, the nipple length seems to make no difference.
I suspect the answer is that you may find there is too much difference.
No need for spoke calc, boy do you lot like to overcomplicate.
The new rim has ERD 3.4mm smaller so spokes ideally 1.7mm shorter...look at the spokes on the old rim, if they are too long you're prob ****ed, if they're just right or too short then you'll be fine.
Sapims IME don't bottom out as badly as DTs FWIW.
Cheers cynic-al
Logical, gives me hope. Gona drop these wheel into lbs to check it out.
