Hey guys
Going to get my new mountainbike soon, and planning to buy some good quality clothes for riding.
Been looking arount for a short sleeve jersey and shorts for mountainbike but there are so many options that is hard to choose and be sure it will be of great quality.
Looking for something that is comfortable (relaxed fit) with a good quality material that can breath easilly and keep me dry both for shorts and the jersey.
Any suggestions of some good products within a budget of £50 for each item?
Thanks
Are you looking for bright colours that shout out then go for fox, Troy lee
If you want good quality well priced hard wearing I'd recommend the endura brand (scottish designed and tested)
The hummvee shorts are extremely hard wearing available in numerous colours and come in an inner padded short/liner approx £45, I prefer the singletrack shorts but no liner,
Altura also come well rated, but the products my mates have had say they are no way as hard wearing as endura.
Dakine 8 track shorts for me. I've got 3 pairs, got them all when they were reduced but even the oldest pair refuse to die. I've given up on Endura, almost every thing I've had from them has failed in some way, 2 pairs of Humvees (stitching and zips failed), ¾ length lyrca shorts (pad disintegrated), convert jacket (taped seams, elastic in hem and zip all failed). Any time Endura are mentioned on here there seems to be equal amounts of love and hate on for them but I wouldn't risk it. Worth spending more on the shorts as you don't need to spend much on a top, a decent base layer will do.
For jerseys I don't bother with the mtb brands and just use loose fit base layers from the outdoor kit companies. Normally better quality, wick & dry better, more choice and often to be had a lot cheaper. Personally I favour berghaus tech tees, more comfortable and work better than the couple of fox tops I've got and you can pick them up for £15. Of course there is no cool factor with them though

I'd second that, a slightly baggy base layer with a zip front is my preferred MTB shirt, mine are usually dirt cheap from the hiking section at Decathlon. In fact, the Decathlon/B'Twin baggy shorts are pretty good too and you'll be able to pick up 2 pairs and 2 or 3 tops for the cost of 1 set of MTB specific stuff.
It's all about the fit. Go try some or order a bunch and return what you don't want.
For me, Mavic stuff fits well but can be a bit spendy when not in the sale.
Not read bad reviews for endura before now, my stuff has been quality,
Like all the above comments I prefer other sports wear
I have a few H&M base layers and hoodies that are a real bargain. As are the running tshirts that have great material cut and finish
Quick dry hoody is £14 http://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0179816038.html
