On Wikipedia too. RIP.
RIP
Edit: I enjoyed watching him riding the Cape Epic a couple of years ago.
Woah. RIP.
While out with his wife too apparently
Balls. RIP.
I can't believe it!
Not a hit and run. Taxi that he collided with stopped at the scene.

That's okay then?
That's terrible. Rip.
That's okay then
No, but maybe, just maybe it wasn't his fault.
RIP
Real loss to the sport. RIP.
Confirmed as a fatal accident. RIP Burry, sad sad news indeed. A great MTB racer and rider 😥
Terrible news, RIP
terrible news, achieved so much in his short time, 2 olympics games by the time he was 25!
South African tv news short on details but report that he was training alone, struck by a taxi in hit and run accident. Declared dead on the scene.
Another cyclist was killed 2 days ago in Krugersdorp, South Africa.
Terrible news. He was a real rising star. SA roads and drivers are notoriously dangerous. So sad.
RIP 🙁
Great rider and a tragic loss for his family. At least the driver stopped - regardless of fault, showing some sense of decency.
Rip
🙁
A life cut far too short
A gutsy rider.
RIP
He was a really stong personality in the world cup front row. I'm shocked and saddened to hear the news.
A couple of pics I took of him in the summer, going all guns blazing on the last lap....

Sad news. RIP.
Blimey, awful news. I always enjoyed watching him on the cape epic etc.
Thoughts with his family.
Awful news
so sad 🙁 RIP
My sister just phoned me to tell me the sad news. She was at Burry's wedding earlier this year. Her husband and Burry were good friends. He was only 25, had so much cycling ahead of him.
Was a head on collision with a taxi that fled the scene. And taxi's in SA are not like the taxis over here. They are 15 seater mini busses (usually overloaded) that seldom are road worthy or taxed.
Myself and my son last saw him at the Olympics 🙁
Has I am writing my regards, I guess how lucky I am after someone
drove straight into me in broad day light whilst road cycling on the 8th Dec 12.
Nothing broken but heavily bruised on crutches now but a slow mend
But very Sad indeed
Terrible news.
I always thought of him as a "rider's racer" - not just a converted roadie with an upper body, but a real mountain biker.
He put a couple of very nice bunny hops over what looked like foot-high rocks at the Olympics that very few others did.
RIP.
That's terrible. Loved his riding. RIP
Oh dear, dreadful news. What a shock! I enjoyed seeing Burry blasting around Dalby in the World Cup races, and from the interviews and stuff I've seen, he always seemed a decent down to Earth fella.
I'd agree with dannyh

RIP Burry.
Bad times. RIP fella.
Terribly sad news. He was an inspiring rider. RIP
Terrible news... Too much of this being reported at the moment ! Why ?
sad news RIP
RIP
So sad.
🙁 he was a really good bike racer
Really, really sad news, a tragic waste of a life with such a bright career. Thoughts go out to his friends and family.
Terrible news... so sad.
🙁 RIP, had the pleasure of watching him race at Dalby.

I never said anything to that effect, I was merely correcting the mis-information regarding this incident.
Initial tv news reported a hit and run (and also, incorrectly that he was variously riding with his father, and wife). Today's papers report the driver had stopped, has been charged with culpable homicide. "Die Beeld" carried a photo indicating that it was a typical left hook type incident. Also photos of his bike literally snapped in two.
SA cyclists shocked as you can imagine. A number of memorial rides taking place - some doubling as protests about drivers in general. SA has a war ongoing between cyclists and motorists at the best of times - one which makes the UK seem very civilised!
A tragic and uneccessary waste.
