So you put the 650b wheels on a standard fork previously used for 26inch wheels?

Guess the only issue might be mud clearance? I'm very interested by this!

my forks are are 2008 forks but I changed the lowers last month to 15 mm bolt and I can safely say that on fox forks there is plenty of room for mud clearance with a racing ralph 2.25

Fox have slightly betterer clearance than rockshox making this possible IIRC. Ritchie wouldn't mind seeing if these wheels fit a bike of mine sometime. How does it ride?

thats not a problem mate its def worth trying before buying ! I think it has more grip in the corners and up hill . Also you feel slightly in the bike more which is a good thing 🙂 I will pop over in the week if you fancy trying them

well the bigger wheels will mean more stability, from the extra trail you get, plus the rolling effect of larger wheels, plus more wheel weight.

The issue would be whether the extra BB height is a negative....

Have you considered just running a 650 front and a std 26" rear? that way your BB would be lower, and you'd get a slacker front end (which is all the rage I've heard).

yes thats a good idea and I could also try that . I think the NS surge has quite a low bottom bracket to begin with so it didnt seem high to me , it might on other bikes mind you ?

You have a very well sealed patio/front garden by the way...bummer about the RS forks. Counts me out!
