So today I proudly serviced my fox fork for the first time....and its working lovely.

Trouble is, on refitting the front brake, it somehow pulls to the bar with absolutely no stopping power. Didn't touch the brake other than removing it and reattaching. Any ideas STFers? Is it a case of needing a bleed?

What brake? I know acids go like this if they are turned up side down. A few pulls of the lever a time to settle should sort it if Avid.

You have air trapped in your lever reservoir, if you don't remove it then it can happen again (usually at an inopportune moment such as wheeling the bike through a gate on it's back wheel prior to a descent), not a problem that's limited to Avids, can occur on any brake that's not been bled properly.

No worries, always happened with my avids no matter if bled perfect, so just remember if you do wheel through a gate on back wheel to squeez them a few times.

They weren't bled perfect if they had air in the reservoir.

Not that I can get on my high horse, one of my Oros is exactly the same and I've never bothered to rebleed it ๐Ÿ˜‰

We used to have similar problems with wor lasses Avids. Get the bike out of the car and it was 50/50 if the brakes would work. I'd had enough and we've changed them to Hope Mono4 as a result, it also means all our bikes use the same pads.
