A mate wants a carbon flatbar for his rigid 29er. He's a towpath bimbler so it doesn't need to be trick/tough/cool but it seems like the price distribution for carbon bars is bimodal; they are either mega cheap Chinesey (sub£20) or trick-as-you-like RF, Easton, Syntace et al at £100+.

Is there anything in the middle, like £40-60?

OnOne do the Knuckleball chewy for £55 but it's a riser, so not ideal.

Needs to be at least 710mm and 31.8mm

Mt Zoom from XCRacer used to be comparitively good value - not sure if they go low enough in price for that budget, though.

Either second hand, or at that price a decent alloy would be the way to go. Spank oozy vibrocore is just over £60.

RSP about £50. Just ordered an Ego 780mm riser bar, but they do flat as well.

Alpkit do one, it may be in budget - I've got one on my HT and it's great

I've bought hardly any carbon parts at all, but the first thing that comes to mind is exotic, and they seem to do a bar for under £60:

Edid: whoops, I'm late

Got two Mt Zoom ones. Not super-cheap but sensibly priced and have been excellent. Well, the first one has, which is why I've just got one for the other bike

I have an Exotic carbon flat bar. It is amazing. Incredibly light, I mean really light, sensibly stiff, very comfy and looks great. It was £50ish and I honestly can’t see how it could be improved. Total bargain.

I also have a Knuckleball. It’s good but not as good as the Exotic.

I got a Ragley wiser? bar on my hardtail, it’s been absolutely fine and was pretty reasonable. With the resurgemce of Ragley maybe we’ll see the component range come back?
