Brand new SLX chain-set (new bike actually) and already noticed i've broken a tooth already.
Is it a binner or should i just file it smooth & MTFU ?
?
Just ride it dude!
You sure it's not a lower profile to aid shifting? I've made that mistake before now.......
The chain ring not the bike! ๐ ๐
Not done this before, just wondering if a broken tooth will damage the chain in some way really. Call it idle speculation! ๐
Thought it was at first but a definite jagged edge to the tooth.
Mind you, could be a low-profile that's been smacked by a rock i suppose..
Just ride it, They can loose a few teeth with no probs.
File it smooth. Missing five or six on my Spot. No worries there.
De-burr the edge of it and carry on. I did the same on a middle ring a while back. Just filed it flat (badly misshapen)and it's had no effect at all. My 31 tooth chain ring feels just like the old 32.
No it's ruined, send it to me and I'll dispose of it in an environmental way ๐

It's bodge btw, a botched job is a complete failure, a bodge on the other hand is a triumphant success.
I'll consider myself suitably corrected! ๐ณ
It's important
Bodging is in the highest traditions of mechanical de-engineering, more an art than a science.
