So im out of action for a few weeks and whilst lazing around i came to the realisation that the injurys have never bothered me, and then i thought what i envy the most about the pros is the ability to have time out and recover then get back down to riding again. Whereas mere mortals like myself cant work, end up short of money, worry about paying the mortgage etc. My first thought when i did it was "crap what im i going to do about work" Its allways at the back of your mind isnt it? Oh well, I guess thats responsibility for you! ๐Ÿ™„

Shit happens it's a risk of doing a dangerous sport.

Get well soon.

Firstly, I hope the recovery goes well.

Secondly riding is a pro's livelihood, a serious injury can have major negative financial repercussions (unable to fulfil contract commitments, i.e. actually race/ride) as well as a significant risk that they don't recovery their prior form.

A break will mend far quicker than a 'major displacement'.

Just as likely done falling down the stairs!

Get well soon.

Hope you recover well soon.

My last bad crash resulted on a broken finger and metacarpal, and black eye. The first thing i thought was "works going to think iv'e been in a fight"

I'm not sure I'd like to be in the position Wiggins was in last year - Broken your collar bone? You're riding the Vuelta next month. Be careful what you wish for.

P.S Hope it gets better quickly. Did it myself many years ago and it was a real pain, in many senses of the word.

My girlfriend came off her road bike at Ovingdon (Hants) a week ago.I had stopped and was to catch her up. Rounding a bend I saw her the other side of a ford lying on the road with her bike on top of her. When i got to her she was unconcious! Not only was she knocked out but she had broken her collar bone. Her helmet was destroyed......I hate to think what would have happened if she had not been wearing it.

Busted a few ribs at the start of March, breathing hurt nexer mind anything else. Broken them several times but this was a good one. Only managed a few rides in April and its still a little sore in certain circumstances. Head bounced off the road (yeah I was going on a ride) helmet split in two. Dont think I'd be writing this without it!

Scary stuff! Get well soon.

Two broken wrists!! Really does enforce the old saying that there is all ways someone worse off than yourself.

I know racing is a pro's livelihood but i suppose my point is riding is what they love and when they're are healed they can get back down to riding fast and hard. When we heal we start looking at the big jumps, gaps, black sections and wondering if its worth it? I'd quite happily go back to the jumps i did it on and have another have another run at them but how many times will my boss accept that accidents do happen if they're as avoidable as not going dirt jumping.

Sympathy mate - my friend did the same a while back and he's a carpenter, so it wasn't ideal. But he managed, and he's back on the bike and fitter then ever - even jumping again. All things must pass, etc.
