I need to buy a new ISIS Bottom Bracket and I haven't a clue to what size I will need as I have never bought one before. How will I be able to get the right measurements???
thanks
What bike, what is the BB shell width, What crankset are you putting on?
If you look up the archive of bikes and your model it will often give you the spec if it is original?
Take the old one to your Lbs
the crankset I'm putting on is the Octane One D1 2010 and my BB shell width is 68mm
and the BB I have on already is a square taper BB, I now need a ISIS BB
Hmm the BB shell will obviously be 68mm but its the axle length which is crucial?
edit: From Sheldon Brown
"ISIS Drive Spline
In the case of ISIS Drive, the standard spindle lengths are symmetric and vary in multiples of 5 mm. Thus, if you know the chainline is 48.5 mm with a 113 mm ISIS Drive spindle length, then you automatically know that if you use a 118 mm ISIS Drive spindle length your chainline will increase by 2.5 mm (each crank moves outward 2.5 mm, for a total of 5 mm). "
What crankset have you got on it already as that will ID the chainline if it is a 1x like your new crankset?
my original crankset was a 3 ring crankset which I no longer have, and I haven't got my new one yet, also I am getting a Blankspire DSX C4 chain guide
not sure I can help any more then - perhaps someone else could help if they have a simi9lar setup, sorry ๐
