[Closed] Bottom Bracket Clicking

Not had the bike out for several weeks. Been hanging up in the garage. However, finally managed to get it out on the weekend and noticed a click coming from the bottom bracket area when applying pressure to the cranks. However the click goes after a few pedal strokes.

Is this a sign of the bearings starting to go?

yes, can happen if there was moisture in there. Depending on setup and your ability it might be worth whipping the cranks off to make sure there are no problems.

I pretty much wrote off an old frame when I put the click down to the bearings. The cup had split internally and wore out the BB threads. Wasn't noticeable from the outside and I just rode on regardless.

take the chain off and spin the cranks you can soon tell if the bb bearings are on the way out.

It's a Hope External BB with 73mm shell.
