[Closed] Bottle openers on frames

I remember when EVERY niche frame had to have a bottle opener mounted in it. These days, though, I haven't really noticed such features.

I have however noticed that the cool kids finish their biking vids by opening a beer with the spokes of a spinning wheel.

Are these two things linked? Or have I just stopped noticing bottle openers on bikes? Will I harm my spokes or beer by using the spokes?

All my old santa cruz hangers had them but not any more. Someone does a direct mount front mech blanking plate that does one. Cb peals work fine and I've had success with shimano ones.

I've got a wisecracker headset spacer opener. Not that vital, as I'm pretty good at opening bottles with whatever's to hand.

An SPD pedal makes an excellent bottle opener.

Never felt the need to open a bottle at the end of a ride and if the ride ends at a pub they open it for you. It's just a gimmick - novelty value only.

@Speeder used mine loads! Generally when camping etc. after that if I've been travelling with work and have the bike in the room it is a useful spare bottle opener for when you just nip to the local offie and curry house instead of room service.

You could fit either:

of no use to me. When will someone sell a corkscrew bar end, that's what I want to know!

My Surly Tuggnut fulfils that role; at the end of 10 More in Moray, everyone got a small bottle of beer handed to them, my bike was up on work stand, production line of bottles, pssst to open on frame, opened bottle handed to weary rider. Brilliant!

a corkscrew bar end
what could possibly go wrong? 🙂

Daft idea, my heckler drop out has one, don't think I've ever used it, novelty value only but as it's probably about 3 extra grammes of ali and £1.50 worth of cnc I'm not too fussed that they put it on.

not sure about the SPD, allsorts of crud on there, bleurgh.*

Most Animal belt buckles have an opener, that has actually been useful.

*possibly not much more than gets flung at a dropout but still seems grimmer
