I believe that the blue big frame will happily take a 650b. My Revelation RL's are 2010/2011, does any one know if they will take a 650b wheel? They look like they should do.

Cheers

I don't think the wheel will clear the arch on those forks.

Have a search for a video on the dirt website of Rob from Bad Ass Bikes cramming a 650b wheel into some Marzocchi 55 Ti's - its a squeeze!

Im off work tomorrow, so im going to visit all the bikes shops in the south Shropshire stanes to find a 650b wheel to try. As Box says, "clearance is clearance".

Ill report back.

Cheers

Not a cat in hell's chance that a 650b wheel will fit in a 2011 Rev (I've got one on the front of my pig). There's only just enough clearance for a 26" wheel with a 2.4 tyre. If you could shoe horn a 650b wheel in there you'd have to use a tyre so skinny it would end up the same diameter as a big tyre on a 26" wheel anyway, yet lose the cushioning a big tyre gives.

Any 26" fox fork will fit up to a 2.4" 650b tyre in!

Ooo, so I could swap the fox forks from my stumpy for the revs on my pig. Excellent , cheers. Or maybe I could try the 650 wheels in the stumpy instead ๐Ÿ™‚

Here's a thread on it with a couple of pics!
http://forums.mtbr.com/650b-27-5/fox-32-float-rlc-650b-378039.html

I plan on converting my blue pig to 650b once the price of tyres and wheels go down, there's acres of room with a 2.4 ardent so it should fit at least a 650b 2.3 out back!

Excellent, im tending to run 2.0 storm controls on it, so should be loads of frame clearance, for a similar 650b tyre. Just need to getsome fox forks in it.

What's the advantage of running a 650b instead of a 26" with a big tyre? Given that presumably they both have very similar diameter etc?

Obviously not if one fits and the other doesn't.

Im not a fan of big tyres, hence why ive had 2.0 storm controls on for most of the last year, plus, ive got some cash burning a hole in my pocket, and I thought why not try it. I was/am gonna get a wheel upgrade for it anyway. I was just wondering if it was feasible.

I have been pondering trading it in for a 29er, but I cant afford the ht 29er I really want, So have sort of put that idea to the backburner for a year or so.

I guess there's an internal logic to that. Fwiw, a Rev will take a 26" with a 2.4 Ardent which can't be much difference in size to a 650b with a smaller sized tyre on it.
