Hi,

My old hope E4 caliper failed and today I got a brand new caliper and started to fit it, got the brake fluid through and coming out of the bleed nipple and the reservoir was full, I could see the pistons moving in and out with the lever pull.

I replaced the gasket on the lever and while the brake does eventually act on the disc, I cant seem to get any "pressure" in the system and the lever is pretty much pulled to the handle bars to get any real bite.

I have left the lever pulled half way in to the handlebars with a cable tie over night but struggling to understand.

Any thoughts or help on this would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Turin

Need to get all the air out, you can have fluid coming out the bleed nipple and air still in the brake caliper.

Make sure the bleed nipple is the highest point on the the caliper and let more fluid through.

You can open the bleed nipple and gravity bleed, or pull brake lever/open bleed nipple/close bleed nipple/release brake lever, just make sure the master cylinder does not run dry.

I’d say a dodgy bleed and there is still air in the system. Wedge the pistons fully retracted, undo both adjusters on the lever to gain maximum lever throw and start again.

Check out Hopes video for full procedure
