after looking here http://www.ridetheclwyds.com/rideclwyds/the_routes.asp im thinking of checking out these rather than just a blast round cyb next time im in wales
has anyone ridden either of the routes and how do they compare to trail centres stuff in north wales, cyb, penmachno, marin etc
cheers
You'd need to enjoy mud (and lots of mud at that) to enjoy bits of the Clywds at the moment...
Think of dry trails turning into rivers during any period of rainfall, deep puddles, lots of mud, more mud, nice scenery, freindly welsh , not to many people, easy access.
iv,e done arthur2times and..well.. wasn,t impressed.but saying that iv,e spoken to a few people and some of the routes are supposed to be really enjoyable.
Over the Top has go a great section round and down Moel Famau. I love the Clwyds, nothing technical but great views and not too busy. Not too far from Liverpool too.
Loads and loads and loads of sheep shite though!!!!

Yes there's plenty of mud, but you learn to love it. On the first route on a clear day you can see into the middle of Liverpool and later on can see the sea in the distance and into Snowdonia too.
My backyard and where I rode my first mountain bike 20 odd years ago. There are loads of better routes than the ones listed on those websites, I have never come across a website showing them though. Have a look on OS maps, a lot of the tracks are shown on there by black dotted tracks. Some really good singletrack and some steep downhill sections. (You can use bing maps to look at OS maps)
It is very muddy at the moment and was quite icey with snow patches this weekend. As poster said above, your learn to love the mud. I have had many laughs trying to get through huge puddles and streams only to come off and be covered in mud and sheep shit.
Much more fun than most of the North Wales trail centers. Also check out routes around the Horseshoe Pass, Clocaenog and Berwyns
As "oglyndwr" says very muddy at moment, Over the top route above the forest like a bog. Best to leave til dryer weather arrives.
My local patch, just one moan if people take energy drinks with them, please take your empty plastic bottles home, the wall at the top of the climb as you cross the Offas dyke path is like refuse skip !!!
