Anyone been biking in Croatia - specifically the island of Brac ?

Can get an easyjet flight then ferry direct from Split to Bol - would this be a good center?

All help appreciated.

Not been biking there, but i understand that someones set up doing some guiding on Hvar. Been to Bol 3 times now. Absolutely amazing place, we usually windsurf and dive. Varaderos for cocktails mmmmmmmmm.
PM me if you want any info on the place.

Lol @ barrykellett.... gotta side with the wife on that one - as long as she doesn't make a habit of it 😆

Did it look (biking) promising? and did you get a ferry from Split?

Funny to see this post just now, as I'm buying a place on Brac. It has the highest mountain of all croatian islands at 770metres. Not seen anybody doing mtb holidays there though. Best way is as you say, easyjet then ferry, only takes 50 mins on ferry and they go every hour.

The terrain rises up straight from Bol - in theory it looks very promising

What is Bol like as a base (other half is non biking)?

ooohhh getting all exited now - somewhere different from the alps this year for a change...... maybe

Well the alps it ain't, more free-ride light kind of riding (only what I've observed, I've never been out there on a bike), but with amazing views over the sea and other islands. Closest thing to paradise in europe.
Bol is the liveliest part of Brac plus you can easily get over to Hvar, which is really cool for nightlife fit birds and clubs. Flights are fairly cheap on easyjet for split right now, I think you should do it. Also you could spend a night or two in split, another good party town.

Found this holiday mtb http://www.summer-activity-holidays.com/tour_itinerary_mountainbike.html - could be used as a basis for one day's ride

Cheers buddy, wasn't expecting dh/fr but 600m + down to sea level might sway me a little.
Don't think i'll mention the nightlife to the other half!

Hvar also has expensive shops, mention that to her instead.
Have a great time let us know how it goes and post some pioneering pics.

The diving is pretty good, try big blue if that's your bag.
Pucisca is deffo worth a visit, take your swimsuit. Bol isn't massive by any scale but it's big enough IMO, there is a restaurant along the way from the main town which does the best seafood I've ever had. The monastry is lovely. We always try to have a day in split on the way plenty to see and do. badnewz, where are you buying, is it reasonable?

Hey Backhander, buying on the north side of the island, its a new development, compared to the uk it's reasonable and as I'm an academic with those long hols it makes more sense for me to buy out there (live with folks in london). The croatian economy contracted about 5% last year, so prices have stabalised, but as a lot of construction companies went out of business, there isn't much on offer at the moment so the prices aren't basement cheap. Hvar is a completely different story as it's seen as the new ibiza and prices are pretty high there, say 200euro for a two bed apartment, I guess compared to ibiza itself though that's not too bad.

I far prefer brac to hvar, half a day there is enough I think. You buying close to supetar then badnewz.
It's a beautiful place, me and mrs bh are going to get married there (eventually!).
